The Gujarat model of development has served as a vibrant example of governance. It essentially promotes the ability to develop a state through sustainable coexistence, enabling overall development.
Tapir Gao, a Lok Sabha MP from Arunachal Pradesh, narrates an engrossing incident involving PM Modi in the creation of a ‘Cow Hostel’. Once Tapir ji asked PM Modi what is the ‘Gujarat Model of Governance’, to which PM Modi invited him to Gujarat to have a first-hand view of the initiatives undertaken by PM Modi when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
PM Modi added that in the Akodara tribal region in the Sabarkantha district of Gujarat, one could see and hear about the cow hostel. He further added that when as the Chief Minister, a proposal to establish a ‘Cow Hostel’ was initiated, people did not understand its needs and significance.
PM Modi envisaged that a huge hall would be constructed in the village where all the people would get their cattle and that this ‘Cow Hostel’ would serve as the centre for dairying, the sale of cow dung and feeding activities through Government fodder stocks. The Cow-Hostel also became a common arena for treatment where veterinary doctors paid regular visits enabling good health to the cattle.
As the people could take better care of their cattle, the Cow-Hostel became a unique model of development for the state of Gujarat, showcasing PM Modi’s innovative thinking.
